Ce tableau a été peint un soir d'Octobre sur l'île de Batz, à cette heure où le jour décroit et où l'on voit apparaître les lumières de la ville de Roscoff au loin.
C'est cette ambiance que j'ai mis en image par des touches larges de couteau qui forment un cocon autour de l'horizon. Les lumières de la ville embrase dans mon imaginaire coloré le ciel de touches jaunes et roses. Ce travail au couteau instinctif et libre donne à cette oeuvre un aspect moderne et très graphique. I painted « A Beach on the Isle of Batz » one lovely October evening. It was the time of day when the sun was setting on the island. As nightfall came in, there loomed in the distance, the city lights of far-off Roscoff.

To capture this atmospheric moment, I used a palette knife. I generously applied large strokes of paint to delineate the cocoon-like haze floating on the horizon. The city lights lit up the sky in a multi-coloured fantasy scheme, where yellows and pinks pleasantly mingle. This free and instinctive way of painting imparts to the scene a very graphic and modern feel. Should you decide to acquire this picture, you would own a genuinely yet unusual art-piece.
