Ce tableau a été peint en extérieur sur l'île de Bréhat, un jour de beau temps du mois de septembre.Une autre version de ce tableau a été acquise par un collectionneur russe qui souhaitait ramener au pays un bout de la Bretagne.
Le bateau rouge est le personnage principale; comme souvent dans mes marines l'humain est absent pour laisser toute sa place à la nature et à l'imaginaire, on peut alors rêver prendre cette embarcation, contourner l'îlot verdoyant et partir vers l'horizon.
La peinture a été posée de manière très instinctive, elle a sculpté chaque éléments du tableau ce qui en fait un objet de caractère. Pour moins de 250 euros cette oeuvre originale est un achat plaisir très intéressant.

I painted this art-piece outdoors on the Isle of Bréhat, one sunny September day.

A Russian art-collector who was keen to bring back home a ‘piece of Brittany’ acquired another version of the painting. The red boat features as the main character in the scene. The fact that human life is absent from this picture enables me to offer centre stage not only to nature itself but also to all sorts of imaginary worlds.
The viewer is invited to indulge in a fantasy dream, by taking the little boat and sail around this quaint green island to discover it or by sailing away to far-off horizons.
I instinctively painted this view, sculpting one element after the other, to convey a sense of the inherent individual nature of each of them.
This lovely painting costing less than 250 euros is a very reasonably priced « pleasure purchase ».
