Après l'averse a été peinte sur une plage déserte de l'île de Bréhat au mois d'Octobre.
Elle a failli ne pas voir le jour car le temps plus qu'incertain me l'a fait démarrer sous la pluie, mon parasol a changé de fonction ce qui m'a permis finalement de l'achever dans des conditions plus raisonnable.
Je ne regrette pas d'avoir persévéré ce jour là car ce désagrément climatique a donné à cette toile tout son caractère. Au fil de sa création j'ai adapté ses couleurs et ses lumières. Dans mon esprit, sous la pluie les toits ont fait ressortir leur couleur bleutée, le sable a fait écho au ciel et les landes se sont embrasées d'orange une fois la lumière revenue.
Dans cette peinture au couteau les embruns de l'île de Bréhat sont emprisonnés comme un ADN. Cette oeuvre pleine de vie vous transmettra son énergie et ne manquera pas d'attirer les regards.

I painted this picture on the Isle of Bréhat, in the month of October, once the beach had been deserted.
Due to the whimsical weather conditions, it almost never came to be painted.
I started working on it under a drizzling rain, my parasol being converted into a useful umbrella. This welcome contraption enabled me to finish my task, in reasonably acceptable material conditions.
And indeed, I did well to persevere.
That day, despite the uncertain weather situation, I managed to give birth to an art-piece. As I carried on painting, the main challenge was to give a pleasing rendering of the colours and lighting, in changing circumstances.
To my mind, the raindrops featuring on the rooftops enhance their lovely blue nuances. The glistening sand is similar to a visual echo, reflecting the sky. The moors seem to be ablaze with a glowing intensity once the light shines back from the clouds.

Using a palette knife, I bundled up the glistening sea-sprays reminiscent of DNA strands, coiling them up in loops, to better highlight their very essence.
This beautifully vivid artwork will not fail to draw people’s attention and attract their gaze.
