Lorsque j'ai capté ce moment, en ce matin de septembre, la mer et le ciel ne font plus qu'un, la mer est calme, et seul le clapotis des vagues sur les rochers roses se fait entendre.

Getting off the ferry, the enclosed harbour offers a welcoming sight to the visitors.
When I captured this specific moment the sea and sky seemed to mingle in a tender embrace, making one. The sea was calm and I could just hear the waves lapping on the pink rocks in a soft murmur.
With the busy touristy season over, we could at last enjoy a quiet time.

This impressionist-inspired painting conjures up the calm inherent in these peaceful surroundings at this particular time of year.
To convey this impression, I daintily applied minutes dashes of colours, using a palette knife to create a whole range of nuances combing ochre with blue, grey and violet with green tones.
The idea is not to provide a faithful reproduction of the details of each rock or each tree, but to offer an harmonious picture of the different planes making up this lovely composition.
The hints of tawny hues in the sky above are reminiscent of the rocks depicted in the foreground. The hints of greeny shades recurring on the rocks are borrowed from the clump of trees in the background.
